The legendary hip-hop band The Roots is returning to the Netherlands for a concert on July 2, 2025, at AFAS Live. After memorable performances at Lowlands, Down The Rabbit Hole, and North Sea Jazz, as well as multiple sold-out shows at Paradiso, The Roots will bring their energetic sound to AFAS Live for the first time. For over three decades, The Roots have been known for their unique blend of hip-hop, jazz, and soul, as well as their dynamic live performances. This year, they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Do You Want More?!!!??!, which was released in 1995.

About The Roots

The legendary Roots have grown into one of the most renowned and respected hip-hop acts, winning four GRAMMYs, including Best R&B Album for Wake Up!, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for Hang in There (with John Legend), and Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance for Shine. This brings the band's total GRAMMY nominations to twelve. Rolling Stone has named The Roots one of the best live bands. They are also the house band for NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and organize their own annual music festival, The Roots Picnic.

In addition to his role as drummer and bandleader, Questlove recently released the critically acclaimed documentary Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius), which highlights the life and influence of funk legend Sly Stone.
